Will you Marry me?
A marriage proposal is an event where one person in a relationship –usually the man- asks for the other's hand in marriage - usually the woman’s. If accepted, it marks the initiation of engagement.
The “ritual” often involves the presentation of an engagement ring and the formal asking of a question like
"Will you marry me, ...?"
… and the man leans on to one knee and presents to the woman the so wished solitaire ring!
It definitely is a high time in one woman’s life, as it suggests that she is the one and only in the man’s heart and she is the one who he wants to spend the rest of his life together.
In this romantic and dreamy occasion she feels unique and exclusive!
Sometimes the proposal is intended to be a surprise. If the woman accepts the proposal, she will typically assent to the man verbally and wear the ring during the time leading up to the marriage ceremony, known as the engagement.
Here are some memorable celebrity marriage proposals:
Kanye West & Kim Kardashian
West rented out San Francisco's AT&T Park and proposed with a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring in front of Kardashian's family and friends while the stadium’s Jumbotron flashed a romantic message from West (in all caps): "please marry me!!!" and an orchestra played Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful,"
Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves
McConaughey proposed to Alves, while exchanging Christmas gifts. However, her immediate response was not "yes”!!!
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
In spring 2012, Pitt gathered the longtime couple's six kids and gave Angie a tablet-shaped diamond engagement ring that he custom-designed with jeweler Robert Procop.
Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise
Cruise proposed to Holmes at the top of the Eiffel Tower in 2005 while the pair were in the City of Lights to promote their respective projects.
So, either on top of the hills or at the middle of a serene lake, or during a vacation flight, men surely have unlimited imagination to create and direct the moment that will seal the beginning of a common life with their future wife.
And remember: original ideas are always welcome and well appreciated!
